Midnight Train
Every journey starts with a departure. Setting off with the hope and possibility of discovering something new. In the darkest hours of the night the train still runs, its lights offer comfort and a safe passage home, or the chance of adventure in a new setting.
Jazz thrives in the night. Bright neon above jazz clubs’ doors signals sanctuary and potential discovery. Stop off in a club and you can find myriad emotions expressed in a unique language.
Midnight Train, the original track written by Michelangelo “Mike” Mazzari for this album, brings a new interpretation of the theme of movement and trains that is so prevalent in the history of jazz and blues. Midnight Train forges ahead, full of rhythm, lights, and character.

Midnight Train is the first volume in a new series of albums produced by Petit Jazz Bar. This new musical initiative was created by Giuseppe Ciminna and Mike Mazzari.
Mike Mazzari Trio
In late 2019 three musicians met in Palermo, leading to the birth of the Mike Mazzari Trio. Mike Mazzari, Gabrio Bevilacqua and Gaetano Presti are all jazz musicians with years of experience behind them. When playing together they discovered an instant feeling with a spontaneous swing and interplay coming naturally to each member of the trio. They play regularly at Tatum Art in Palermo, as well as other music venues in the city.
Beyond the stage, the musicians are friends. They supported each other through difficult times and now often spend time together in Palermo’s historic centre, chatting about the world, food and wine, and of course, jazz.
Mike Mazzari studied jazz piano at Civici Corsi di Jazz in Milano under Sante Palumbo, Roberto Pronzato and Enrico Intra. With a career spanning more than 20 years he has played in some of the best jazz clubs in Italy and Germany where he lived for 11 years.
His various albums – in trio and quartet – can be found on all digital platforms.

Petit Jazz Bar is a place where creativity, artistic expression, music, and food & wine come together. Found in a picturesque street in Palermo’s city centre, Petit Jazz Bar is an informal hidden gem where you can enjoy an aperitivo in unique surroundings. This recently opened bar was born from a desire to create somewhere that music and art can be enjoyed, and to offer guests something new and unexpected between one glass of wine and another. It’s a new stop on the music scene in Palermo, with a focus of fostering young talent. Friendly, international, experimental, spontaneous and original, Petit Jazz Bar has the support of the arts at its heart.
